Who we areGallery
Dentistry for us is a family tradition. Dr. Guarnieri and I are mother and daughter, and when I became a dentist and went into practice with her, her passionate commitment to this profession became my own. Our studio has grown to a whole team of dentists and supporting staff, but this “family passion” is still vital to what we do. It also could describe our patients, who are often families for whom we have been caring for generations.
Dr. Maria Teresa Guarnieri began her professional career as a kind of pioneer. She was one of the few women doctors in Italy in the 1960s and later she was one of the first women dentists, completing her specialization in Clinical Dentistry and Stomatology in 1970. When her patients saw how small and how slight of frame she was, some of them would ask, “Are you going to pull my tooth?….. Can you do it?” “Well, I’ll give it a try,” she would answer cheerfully and then proceed to get the work done and do it very well indeed.
In the years to come, professional satisfaction was not lacking. In addition to founding this dental studio in 1982, Dr. Guarnieri became the Head of the Department of Prostheses of the Italian Institute of Stomatology, already at that time one of the most important dental health clinics in Italy.
Not until I entered the profession did I fully understand the importance of how my mother approached her work. The technical instruction I received directly from her was invaluable, and, indeed, much of the professional satisfaction I have received was made possible by this solid foundation. Also, early in my career, Dr. Guarnieri allowed me to be absent from the day-to-day work of our studio in order to pursue advanced courses in those areas of dentistry which I was most keenly interested in. Without her support I would never have been able to do so much or come so far.
Dr. Guarnieri has given me, and all of those who collaborate in the work of our studio, a love for our profession and an intense desire to strive to improve and to always be able to offer something more to those who come to us for help. What I came to understand over the years is that what moves everything, basically, is the pleasure of taking care of people who come to us and who, with time, we find ourselves thinking of as friends more than as patients.
EVERY MEMBER OF OUR CLINICAL TEAM IS COMMITTED TO BEING FULLY – INFORMED AND PROFICIENT WITH REGARD TO ADVANCES IN DENTAL SCIENCE. FOR EACH OF US, BEING A PROFESSIONAL MEANS THE CONTINUAL STUDY OF OUR PROFESSION. WE ALL ARE INVOLVED IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN OUR RESPECTIVE AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION. THIS INCLUDES PUBLISHING ARTICLES AND ATTENDING COURSES AND CONGRESSES AS WELL AS COLLABORATING WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MILAN.
All of our efforts are directed towards safeguarding the dental and oral health of our patients in order to optimize their overall health and well-being.
We do EVERYTHING possible to save teeth and all of the tissues of the mouth while maximizing the biological integrity of each element, with the goal of keeping the mouth healthy for as long as possible.
We do ONLY what is necessary. We are against therapies which are useless, unnecessarily invasive and costly, both financially and biologically.
Consistent with our philosophy is the fundamental importance that we give to PREVENTION and to MAINTENANCE.
Our studio is committed to PREVENTION because this obviously provides the best outcome for the patient. When complete prevention is not possible, a PREVENTIVE APPROACH still allows us to identify and treat a pathology when it is still in an incipient stage.
For this reason, on the basis of the characteristics and “weak points” of each patient, we formulate a specific program of prevention and support, including hygiene and check-ups, diagnostic aids and personalized therapies.
After treatment has been completed, MAINTENANCE is of vital importance. Each patient is taught what they can do to maintain the achieved results and, on the basis of their original pathology and the type of treatment implemented, appointments are scheduled for checks and verifications and for support therapy.
Our approach and our commitment ensure patient satisfaction. Our patients know that we will continue to take care of their health with special attention to their particular condition,
and they know that when a new problem arises, it will promptly be resolved by our dental staff in the most conservative way possible. In this way we also have the pleasure of seeing that the fruits of our labor are lasting.
All of the possible therapeutic options are explained to each patient for their particular condition and a “customized” treatment plan is formulated taking into account the specific requirements and characteristics of each patient.

DEDICATED TO OUR PATIENTS
As dedicated professionals, we strive to direct all of our efforts to helping those who come to us. This includes using the most up-to-date therapies and state-of-the art equipment to guarantee more secure, predictable results.
Microscopes help us to see our work much more precisely, especially in endodontics, surgery, conservation and prosthesis, where the attention to detail makes the difference and changes the prognosis of a tooth.
We use an electronic, computerized system for administering anesthesia. With this comfortable method the anesthetic is released under computer control into the thin groove between the tooth and the gums, thus avoiding an injection and the anxiety or pain this might cause. Moreover, it is possible to anesthetize only the concerned area without causing the numbness in the lips and face which typically occurs with traditional anesthesia. With computerized anesthesia it is possible to talk, to smile and to eat normally after the dental work has been completed. This system is very much appreciated by those who have an engagement after their dental appointment or who don’t particularly like having part of their mouth “asleep”. It also prevents the problem of child patients biting/cutting their lips accidentally, as is often the case with traditional anesthesia.
Laser treatment of periodontitis and endodontic infections is state-of-the-art, with strong support in scientific literature. This therapy when used in conjunction with other methods guarantees a more complete and effective decontamination of bacteria and better healing.
Using a digital X-ray system we can drastically reduce the amount of radiation the patient is subjected to. Also, if it should happen that an X-ray doesn’t come out well, it is possible to make it more readable through post-processing, thereby avoiding the need of another X-ray and more radiation.
By means of minimal sedation (the patient is still awake) performed by an anesthesiologist, an anxious, fearful or uncooperative patient can fully relax and forget any previous worry or negative ideas about the treatment that they are going to receive. Children can particularly benefit from this approach.
The support of an anesthesiologist is essential for long or intricate surgical operations. Thanks to the collaboration between anesthesiologist and dentist any therapy can be carried out calmly and with confidence.
In a dental studio everything which comes into contact with the patient must be sterile. We use the most modern dental machines and equipment and strictly follow protocols recommended for guaranteeing maximum security for our patients. With the aim of continual improvement we have installed a system which employs the inverse osmosis of chlorine dioxide to ensure the purification of the water supply. With this system, which is also used in hospital operating rooms, we guarantee that not only the instruments that we use are sterile but also the water that we use for irrigating the mouth is decontaminated. This guarantees greater protection from legionnaire’s disease and other types of infection.
